At Phillip Island Kindergarten, we believe children learn best through active, play-based experiences. Our learning environments are thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, investigation, and discovery—helping every child grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Our educational philosophy embraces an inquiry-based approach, where curiosity leads and learning follows.
Based in Cowes, we offer Kindergarten in a Long Day Care model, grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework. Our program focuses on holistic development through flexible learning opportunities. Our 3 and 4-year-old Kindergarten programs are specifically designed to prepare children for all their future possibilities.
Led by Bachelor qualified teachers, our Kindergarten program is available 5 days a week, 49 weeks a year.

Our Approach
-

Our Child-Centered View
At Phillip Island Kindergarten, children are at the heart of everything we do. They are decision-makers in our curriculum and co-creators of their learning journey. Our educators observe children closely and respond to their interests, needs, and curiosities to build a dynamic and engaging program.
-

Our Learning Environments
Our educators work together to use space, materials, and relationships to inspire learning. We integrate literacy, numeracy, science, the arts, and technology into daily learning possibilities, creating meaningful learning experiences based on children’s ideas and interests.
-

Our Meaningful Connections
At the heart of our approach is a deep commitment to building strong, responsive relationships—with our children and families. We believe that genuine understanding grows from connection. The better we know each child, the more naturally we can tune into their individual needs.
-
Our Community
Community is something we grow together. We are reminded daily of the importance of connection: to people, to place, and to the natural world that surrounds us. These early bonds shape how children see themselves and how they move through the world.
A Journey Together
Children are natural explorers. They make sense of the world by observing, experimenting, and interacting with their environment and the people in it. Time, space, and relationships shape not just how children learn, but how they see themselves as learners. We engage in reflective conversations that support and extend children’s thinking, helping them build understanding about themselves, the process of learning, and the interests they explore.
